Downtown Restaurant Café Roma Undergoes Large Expansion and Operational Changes

Restaurant will expand to larger new space; add alcohol, patio, table service and a revised menu

Café Roma, an authentic Italian street café in downtown, is expanding to double in size and offer new services. The expansion will begin July 15th and is expected to be complete by September 15th. Café Roma attributes it and popularity with the downtown workforce and visitors to its Authentic Italian recipes, friendly attentive service, and Mediterranean Italian atmosphere and décor.

The restaurant is expanding to offer a larger environment and more menu options. The expansion will double the space to now seat approximately 70 guests. Café Roma took over the building formally occupied by Mr. Don’s Hair Design. The expansion will include a new patio that can seat 25 guests.

“We have had lines out the door and not enough seating for all our guests,” said Abe Saadeh, owner of Café Roma. The expansion is a business no-brainer.”

Café Roma will now serve beer and wine. The beer and wine menu will include wines from Italy and Napa and beers from Italy and the Greater Sacramento region.

“Our success comes from to two major things,” said Saadeh. “First we provide the perfect experiences for those who work in the downtown region. They want to have wholesome, real food at a reasonable price. We get that. Second, we provide an atmosphere based on Roman street cafes. We are meticulous about our commitment to authenticity in every detail. I had a guest joke with me and ask if he could pay with Euros. No other downtown/midtown cafe provides the experience of escaping to the time and place of Café Roma.”

Café Roma will also roll out a new Happy Hour from 3pm – 6pm featuring Apertivo (Italian appetizers) with beer and wine specials. Some new menu items include Carbonara, Penne alla Arabbiata, and Personal Neapolitan Pizza’s. Café Roma will maintain its traditional counter service while adding an elegant dining room with seated table service. Café Roma will also now validate parking at the garage located inside the building. An extended breakfast menu will be available to guests, as a convenience to those who work or visit downtown.
