Clearing up in the High Sierra

Clearing up in the High Sierra

This shot was too good to pass up as I came back down Interstate 80, following an assignment at the Sugal Bowl ski resort, near Truckee.  After a day of unsettled weather, including rain in the valley and snow at higher elevations in the Sierra, the scenery looked amazing Wednesday afternoon.  This picture was taken at the Emigrant Gap vista point, on the westbound side of I-80.

Don't rain on my parade, or festival

SACRAMENTO, CA - Debbie Chan never thought she'd have to worry about rain for her daughter's outdoor wedding in Chico this weekend.

"I'm looking for umbrellas, not fans for this weekend, I can't believe it," said Debbie Chan.

Debbie's wedding planner is searching the area for party tents but is having little luck.

Organizers for two major festivals scheduled for June 4th are scrambling with a plan B due to the threat of rain.

Sacramento's Gay Pride festival and the SPCA's Doggie Dash are the largest fundraisers of the year for these two groups.

"We're freaked out a bit but we're on rain or shine," said Leslie Kirren with Sacramento SPCA.

"We're checking the forecast by the hour and won't cancel but we need tents just in case," said Gay Pride Festival organizer, Sarah Freid.
