Crash, diesel leak backs up I-5 in Sacramento
News

SACRAMENTO - A collision between an SUV and a big rig caused a diesel leak and major traffic delays on Interstate 5 in Sacramento Wednesday morning.

California Highway Patrol reports indicated the crash occurred around 9:06 a.m., blocking all northbound lanes of the interstate north of J Street for about an hour.

Hazmat crews were also dispatched to the scene to clean up approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel that leaked out in the collision and was spilling into nearby storm drains.

The Sacramento Fire Department was requested to assist with injuries, but the CHP did not indicate the number, extent or nature of those injuries.

All lanes were cleared and reopened by 12:35 p.m.
