Sacramento firefighters prepare for 911 Run to Remember
News

SACRAMENTO, CA - Runners and walkers will converge on the State Capitol Sept. 9 to remember those who lost their lives in the New York City and Pentagon terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Run to Remember is a 5K and 10K run and walk created by volunteers who ask the public to remember the nearly 3,000 Americans killed in the 9-11 terror attacks.

Both the events will start at 9:11 a.m. and wind through downtown Sacramento.

At the finish of both races, American flags will be handed to runners as they cross the line. Each flag will represent an American who lost hir or her life on 9/11/2001. Runners will place those flags in the pentagon-shaped memorial during the "Tribute in the Park".

When the Run To Remember is complete, nearly 3,000 flags will stand.

The race will be followed by a tribute at Capitol Mall between 5th and 7th streets where runners and members of the community are encouraged to gather in honor of all the families left behind when their loved one was killed.

To register for the event, visit the Run to Remember website.
