News10 launching weekend morning newscast Saturday | News
SACRAMENTO, CA - KXTV News10 is adding four hours of weekend morning news to its lineup starting this Saturday.
The weekend editions of News10 Good Morning will premiere Aug. 18-19 at 6-7 a.m. and 8-9 a.m. ABC's Good Morning America will remain in its 7-8 a.m. time slot. Sunday's political hour, ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos, moves to 9-10 a.m. Sunday mornings.
News10 viewers can expect coverage of overnight and breaking news along with weather and traffic updates. But there will be a different feel than weekday morning newscasts.
"People aren't as rushed and their priorities are different. So we're putting together a fun, energizing show to reflect that. We'll highlight events that day and things you can do around town. The show will have a great mix of stories and guests," said News10 News Director Jerome Parra.
Morning viewers of News10 will recognize some familiar faces. Anchor Kate Larsen has been a weekday reporter on News10 Good Morning. A Californian, Kate grew up in San Francisco, attended UCLA and reported in Bakersfield and Los Angeles before making her way back to Northern California.
Larsen teams up with News10 meteorologist Darla Givens, who's been forecasting weather on News10 for 12 years and is active in many community organizations.
"This expansion is another step in News10's mission to be the news leader in the Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto market," said Maria Barrs, President and General Manager of News10. "It's a new level of commitment to our viewers and the community."
The additional newscasts will complement the other platforms of News10, making it that much easier for everyone to get all the news and information they want - when they want it - wherever they want it - on air, online, on mobile or via social media.
