Capitol Corridor reduces weekday trains by 2
News

SACRAMENTO, CA - Beginning next Monday, Aug. 13, the number of Capitol Corridor trains which run weekdays between Sacramento and Oakland will be trimmed by two.

One of them is the Train 518 that leaves Jack London Square in Oakland at 4:30 a.m. for Sacramento. Instead, a bus will depart Martinez at 4:45 a.m. and stop in at Suisun City/Fairfield, Davis and Sacramento-area stations.

The other involves two westbound trains which departed Sacramento at 6:40 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. weeknights will be merged into Train 549 leaving Sacramento at 7:10 p.m.

Passengers should also note that Train 553 has been renamed to Train 551. It will still be the last Sacramento weeknight departure for the Bay Area at 9:10 p.m.

Capitol Corridor is also changing departure times for several trains.

Weekend service is not affected.

Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority Managing Director David Kutrosky said the moves were necessitated by budgetary concerns over rising diesel fuel costs. He said the changes were expected to save the agency approximately $1 million annually.
