It really DID look like Spring ~ last week!

It really DID look like Spring ~ last week!

The weekly rains brought Spring on with a vengeance - flowers, bees, blossoms & allergies!

Riding (or walking/jogging) the countryside in Southport during April & May is a glorious thing with rich visual rewards for those who cherish the open spaces still available.

Life: Risks and Rewards

Life: Risks and Rewards

I don’t think of myself as foolish. Foolish people don’t have a plan. I have a plan. It may not be the best one, but at least I’ve got one. Moving to Minnesota to be with Paul feels like the right thing to do. Every time I think about being with him, I smile.

It never occurred to me that some people who hear our story might think I’m being a silly woman by giving up my life and moving out to be with him. I’m not giving up my life. I’m starting a new one.

10 Reasons to Be a Renter … Forever

10 Reasons to Be a Renter … Forever

By Kelly Rathburn

I want to preface this by saying that I know how very lucky I am to be a homeowner and I love our little house dearly.

So I didn't have big expectations when I arrived. The reason I came was because I had a free place to live care-taking a condo for close family friends. Then I got married and ended up staying.

Growing up the longest I stayed anywhere was 16 years in Saudi Arabia. So if you asked me, I would have called Saudi 'home'. Now, since Sac is the longest I've lived anywhere, I am proud to call Sacramento my home.

In the 23 years I've been here I've seen the area grow considerably... Read More

Who is Clinton Kelly, Anyway?

Who is Clinton Kelly, Anyway?

I’m probably not the first one to opine that Peter Brady (or any one of the The Osmond Brothers) did a great job hosting the Oscars this weekend.

Ah, the Oscars. Fashion overload at its finest. Timely, too, because it’s Fashion Week here in Sacramento, the wardrobe capitol of…of… the greater Sacramento area.

As some of you already know, I went virtually makeup-less my entire life until recently, taking a loan out on my house to purchase face paint for a three-minute television appearance. So now that I’m an expert on the matter, I was invited to attend a big Clinton Kelly fashion event at Macy’s on Saturday.

I... Read More
