Homesteading at Hanks Hens

Homesteading at Hanks Hens

Hanks Hens & All Things GoodAs a person with a brown thumb and an ignorance of plants in general, the idea of homesteading is something that is way beyond me. Homesteading equals self sufficiency and that means growing and raising most of your own food. I certainly appreciate the premise, but am I built for that kind of life? Not very likely.

Someone who was bred for it is Susan Hanks. She and her husband, Paul, own Hanks Hens & All Things Good, a homesteading operation in Rio Linda... Read More

Nugget's Array from Ettore

Nugget's Array from Ettore

In my professionally trained culinery opinion, Nugget's cake assortment could not get any better. No need to even try. Yet, they did it. They brought in an array from Ettore's!

Nugget locations now carry Ettore cakes that adorn the entire top shelf of the display case, which you can also buy by the slice.

Why the fuss and what's the big deal, you ask? Have you tasted Ettore's cakes?  Why, yes I have.  Have you studied under Ettore?  Yes, I have. Cake...it just makes everything ok, or at least a heck of a lot better.  Cake is my favorite word in the English language. Just hearing it makes me happy.

Primavera is the Spanish word for spring, making this yerba mate-infused tequila cocktail at Centro a fitting rite. Agave and orange juice round out the south-of-the-border flare, while $8 won’t break the bank. Available now.
