Located just five minutes from Sacramento International Airport, off Road 22, the historic Elkhorn Saloon is truly a country bar and grill, surrounded by cornfields and the Sacramento River levee.
Originally founded in 1878 by Frank Linggi as the Elkhorn Saloon, this building has housed many things: a restaurant, saloon, post office, brothel and a gambling hall. Both steamboat and stagecoach passengers would frequent the saloon until the levees were completed in the 1920's. In 1958 the building was moved to make room for expansion of the Old River Road and it became the Elkhorn Station and became famous for its "Friday Night Fish Fry."
In February 2012 ownership was taken over by the new management team of Stan Goman and Skip & Rose Kittle. Stan is the former COO of Tower Records, with more than 35 years of business and entertainment experience. Skip & Rose are former fowners of Kittles Bar & Grill, Rosie's Rock & Docks and the Westside Pub & Grill. Together they have created this dynamic partnership to ensure the legacy of the "Elkhorn" will continue.
A calendar of great live music events lined up this summer can be found on the Elkhorn Saloon web site at www.elkhornsaloon.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/elkhorncountrysaloon. The menu is also available on the web site.
