SACRAMENTO, CA - A few dozen Occupy activists and others held firm in the Capitol rotunda Monday, hours after thousands converged on the state Capitol in protest over budget cuts to education.
At Monday's march and rally were students from Sacramento State, UC Davis, and UC Santa Cruz as well as other campuses. They want state lawmakers to hear them.
"Education is a human right. We all have the right to go to school," said UC Santa Cruz student Shirley Lavareda.
"So many students are getting cut back," said Edgar Garcia who attends Los Angeles Mission College. "You have to do a lottery just to get into a classroom."
