SACRAMENTO, CA - The memorial outside a sports bar in Old Sacramento grows larger every day for the victims killed on New Year's Eve. A total of five people were shot - two died and three, including the suspect, were injured.

Friends and family of victim Gabriel Cordova turned out Thursday night to pay their respects. Cordova's oldest son Isiah said his father's had a many friends with the Vagos motorcycle club.

"These are brothers," Isiah Cordova said. "There's a lot of support for my father."

Gabriel Cordova was killed in addition to bar employee Daniel Ferrier following a fight that started over a spilled drink.

The suspect 22-year-old Carlito Montoya is still in the hospital under police watch. Police said the gun used in the shooting in Old Sacramento was stolen several years ago from another jurisdiction.

Old Sac shooting victim's son says fight started over spilled drink

SACRAMENTO, CA - The son of the second victim who was shot and killed in Old Sacramento on New Year's Eve said the fight started over a spilled drink.

Garbriel Cordova, 35, of North Highlands was shot and killed after he got into a fight with suspected gunman Carlito Montoya, 22, Sacramento police said.

Cordova was inside of the Sport Corner Café bar to celebrate on New Year's Eve.

"They just went out to have fun, come back and barbeque with the family and everything and some idiot with a gun came out," Cordova's son Isaiah Cordova said.

Cordova said the fight started after a woman bumped into his dad, spilling her drink. He said his father apologized, but it did not work.

"That's what set everything off," Cordova said. "She went and got her buddies and that's how it all went down."

The 18 year old said his father was a fun-loving man who was a Raiders fan.

2nd victim in Old Sacramento shooting identified

SACRAMENTO, CA - A second man fatally shot on New Year's Eve in Old Sacramento was identified Wednesday by the Sacramento County coroner as 35-year-old Gabriel Abel Cordova.

The man suspected of killing Cordova and another man and wounding two others remains in the hospital.

Carlito Montoya, 22, was arrested Monday night after he ran from the shooting scene at the Sports Corner Café bar, located on the 1000 block of 2nd Street, Sacramento police Officer Michelle Gigante said.

Still armed with the gun, Montoya ran from the bar toward streets that were crowded with New Year's Eve revelers after a fireworks display that ended just minutes before. Gigante said Montoya was immediately taken into custody by responding police.

Old Sac businesses hit hard by New Year's Eve closures

SACRAMENTO, CA - An empty pub is something O'Mally's assistant manager Ginny Raines did not count on for, what she says is, one of the busiest nights of the year.

"It's 'all hands on deck' and it's a really busy night for us, and getting shut down early was obviously not very beneficial," said Raines.

Old Sacramento business owners are still trying to figure out how much money was lost after they closed their doors early on New Year's Eve after a shooting killed two people and injured three outside of a sports bar in Old Sacramento.

Many businesses like O'Mally's Pub closed early when police told people to leave the area and cancelled the midnight fireworks show.

Some business owners worry Monday night's shooting could cast a black eye on the Old Sacramento scene.

Lawyer addresses charges against Sac mayor's former aide

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The attorney for a former Sacramento mayor's aide accused of misusing her city-issued credit card says some of the charges on the card appear routine and others may have ended up there by mistake.

William Portanova made the comments on Wednesday after his client, 40-year-old Lisa Serna-Mayorga, made her first court appearance on charges of misappropriating public funds, grand theft, forgery and writing bad checks. She did not enter a plea.

Serna-Mayorga is accused of improperly charging about $19,000 on the credit card between July 2009 and June 2012, including a trip to Disneyland, restaurant bills and hundreds of iTunes purchases.

Portanova said the restaurant charges appear to be routine. The larger purchases may have wound up on the card by mistake.

Serna-Mayorga served as office manager to Mayor Kevin Johnson and the Sacramento City Council. She resigned in July.
