Crime

SACRAMENTO, CA - The man found guilty of the murders of a young UC Davis couple 32 years ago should be executed, a Sacramento jury has recommended.

Robert Hirschfield, 63, was convicted last month of kidnapping and killing John Riggins, 18, and Sabrina Gonsalves, 18, in December 1980.

Their bodies were found in a van near Lake Natoma two days later. Their throats had been cut.

Jurors also found true special circumstances of oral copulation and commission of multiple murders.
