Police: Man tries to hire detective to kill wife
Crime

SACRAMENTO, CA - A man was arrested Wednesday for trying to hire someone to kill his wife, police said.

Hader Nasim, 30, was arrested after trying to hire an undercover detective for the murder, Sacramento police Officer Michele Gigante said.

On Tuesday around 9:45 p.m., Nasim met with the detective to discuss specifics of how and when he wanted his wife killed. Gigante said Nasim told the detective he wanted her killed immediately.

After both parties agreed to the terms, Nasim paid the detective, Gigante said.

Officers arrested Nasim the day after the meeting.

The suspect's neighbors were stunned.

"It's mind-boggling," neighbor Keith Hoskins said. "Why would a person in this neighborhood be like that?"

"Yeah, that's shocking," another neighbor said. "I had no idea anything like that was going on."

Meanwhile, close family friends believe it was all a big misunderstanding. Police were still looking into the motive.

Police were alerted to Nasim's solicitation after getting a call for service. Gigante did not elaborate on any other details in the case.

Nasim was booked into Sacramento County Jail for solicitation of murder. He was ineligible for bail.

He was scheduled to be in court on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
