Celebrate National Train Day This Saturday with FREE Admission to Two Museums!

On Saturday, May 11, 2013, Amtrak, California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum will proudly celebrate the sixth annual National Train Day by offering free Museum admission, tours of modern-day Amtrak California passenger cars and special rail-related activities inside and outside the Museum!  And, to add to the celebration and extend the fun, the nearby Sacramento History Museum in Old Sacramento will also offer free museum admission on this special day. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this one day only, kicking off promptly at 10 a.m.

$125,000 contest looking for retail business dreamers

Will you be Downtown Sacramento’s next success story?

Calling all passion-filled go getters with big ideas, people who are sparked by opportunity and possibility, we want you to join us Downtown.

Applicants interested in starting a new retail business in Downtown Sacramento can submit their business concept for consideration. The winner will receive an awards package worth approximately $125,000 which includes rent-free up to one year in a Downtown location, startup capital, and business support services.

The application process will run until May 24th and is open to entrepreneurs with a retail oriented business idea, current retailers who want to open a new concept, and those who want to expand or relocate from outside of Sacramento.

Community 1st Bank Welcomes Lapkass as New Senior Vice President

Community 1st Bank has named Ulrike Lapkass, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the banking industry, as a new Senior Vice President/Senior Relationship Manager for the bank.

An Auburn resident, Lapkass joins the Community 1st team to bolster the bank’s commercial lending services. She will work with business owners and investors throughout Northern California, primarily focusing on their financing needs.

“Our economy has made some positive strides in the past year, so this is a great time for any business owner to be looking for financing,” Lapkass said. “I am excited to join the dynamic team at Community 1st Bank.”

Lapkass began her banking career with Wells Fargo, where she was a Premier Client Manager for many years.
